Join our dynamic maintenance team at the Country Fresh plant in Grand Rapids, MI, as a Sr. Controls Specialist (PLC Controls). This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based automation systems that support the production of fluid milk, cream, and cultured products. We are looking for a skilled professional with a strong background in industrial automation and controls engineering who thrives on problem-solving and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, this position plays a key role in enhancing our plant's efficiency and reliability. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Design, develop, and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation.
- Troubleshoot and optimize control systems to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate PLCs with mechanical and electrical systems.
- Perform system upgrades, debugging, and commissioning within the facility.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including wiring diagrams, control logic, and schematics.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.)
- Proficiency in HMI/SCADA development (FactoryTalk, Wonderware, Ignition, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
- Experience with motor controls, VFDs, Sensors, and safety circuits required.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
- AutoCAD experience is required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
