YOUR ROLE: The IT Infrastructure Architect at Promega is responsible for designing and optimizing the company's enterprise infrastructure, including both on-premises systems and Azure cloud environments. This role focuses on creating scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure aligned with business and IT goals. The position involves leading architecture standards, managing hybrid solutions, and supporting modernization through automation and infrastructure-as-code practices. Strong collaboration, leadership, and technical expertise across systems, networking, and cloud technologies are essential. CORE DUTIES:
1. Design and implement enterprise infrastructure solutions including Azure cloud, physical and virtual servers, storage systems, and networking.
2. Lead the development of infrastructure architecture standards and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business needs and IT best practices.
3. Collaborate with IT leaders, architects, and business stakeholders to define infrastructure requirements for new and existing services.
4. Evaluate current cloud and infrastructure capabilities, identify gaps, and implement solutions that support scalability, high availability, security and performance.
5. Architect hybrid solutions that seamlessly integrate on-premises systems with Microsoft Azure services.
6. Maintain expertise in cloud and on-premise server virtualization, storage architecture, backup strategies, hybrid networking and disaster recovery.
7. Oversee lifecycle management and capacity planning for infrastructure systems.
8. Guide the configuration and management of Azure IaaS and PaaS workloads, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.
9. Work closely with security teams to enforce infrastructure-level security controls, compliance, and data protection.
10. Provide leadership on IT infrastructure modernization, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
11. Design and implement hybrid networking solutions.
12. Serve as escalation point for high-impact infrastructure incidents and support the incident response process.
13. Evaluate and manage global vendor relationships with on premise cloud infrastructure tools.
14. Participate in the on-call rotation as required.
15. Strong communication, documentation skills and strategic thinking.
16. Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor team members.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field or Associate degree with equivalent experience may be considered.
2. 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with demonstrated expertise in server, storage, and cloud systems.
3. Strong experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS and PaaS), Windows and Linux operating systems, and SAN storage architecture.
4. Proven experience in infrastructure architecture, systems integration, and performance optimization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or similar cloud certification.
2. Cisco CCNP
3. Experience with VMware, Hyper-V or other hypervisor virtualization platforms.
4. Familiarity with PowerShell, ARM/Bicep templates, or Terraform for infrastructure automation.
5. Knowledge of enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
2. Ability to move up to 25lbs occasionally.
3. Ability to travel as needed, including occasional international travel.
