What You'll Do in This Position

SRNS is seeking to hire experienced Waste Process Engineers into our Solid Waste Engineering group within EC&ACP Engineering. This position ensures that Site wastes (e.g., low-level, hazardous, mixed and transuranic) are characterized, received, stored and managed in accordance with RCRA permit, site procedure and facility Safety Basis requirements. This position also functions as a point of contact for waste generators and Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility personnel to facilitate waste program and Waste Acceptance Criteria compliance.

Additional position duties include:
* Qualify as and perform Waste Stream Design Authority Engineer (DAE) duties
* Qualify as and perform Waste CTF duties including development/review of radiological waste characterization documents and hazardous waste determinations
* Interface with on-site waste generators and off-site Treatment Storage Disposal (TSD) facility personnel to ensure proper characterization, sampling, packaging, and profiling of waste
* Development, review, and implementation of procurement documents (e.g., Statements of Work, Purchase Requisitions, Contracts, etc.) required to treat and dispose of waste off-site
* Function as Subject Matter Expert for waste stream related issues (e.g., site-level procedure clarification/review, waste generator/operator training material development/review, software develop/change reviews and testing, etc.)
* Audit/assess waste program compliance at on-/off-site waste generator and TSD facilities

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
