Location Site: Salem Hospital, 890 Oak St. SE, Salem, OR 97301Department: SH Advanced Wound CarePosition Type: Part Time 20 hours/weekSchedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, 8 hours/day, no weekends Your Role With Us:As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA ), this individual plays a vital role in delivering safe, compassionate, and competent care to patients under the direction of licensed nursing staff. They perform assigned skills and tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures, and CNA I scope of practice, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times. They are responsible for completing personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance, while observing and reporting any changes in patient condition-such as abnormal vital signs, skin integrity, or behavior-to the primary nurse. This CNA communicates respectfully and effectively with patients and their families, adapting care to meet age-specific needs and encouraging independence where appropriate. They ensure proper patient identification, reinforce education during activities of daily living, and provide thorough hand-off reports using the SBAR technique. Additionally, they document patient information accurately and utilize computer systems proficiently. The CNA supports a safe environment by following infection control protocols, reporting hazards, and maintaining clean, organized work areas. Flexibility is demonstrated through willingness to float, accept various assignments, and adjust schedules to meet patient and unit needs. They also assist with onboarding new staff and perform essential support duties such as stocking supplies, transporting specimens, and running errands, all in alignment with Oregon State Board Division 63 standards for CNA practice. What you'll doPatient Care & Observation: Provides direct personal care, observes and reports patient condition changes, and supports age-appropriate, patient-centered care.Documentation: Accurately documents patient information using approved medical terminology and demonstrates proficiency with electronic and downtime documentation systems.Safety & Infection Control: Maintains a safe environment by adhering to infection control policies, proper equipment handling, and safe lifting and transfer techniques.Resource & Time Management: Adapts schedule and duties to meet unit needs, including assisting with errands, stocking, and maintaining clean workspaces.Communication & Handoffs: Uses SBAR technique for shift reports and reinforces patient teaching through daily care activities.Leadership & Team Support: Floats to other units as needed, assists in training new staff, and follows state CNA standards and competencies.Scheduling Support: Assists with scheduling patients when primary scheduler is unavailable.Required qualificationsActive Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure (CNA) required.Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.Total rewards packageSalem Health's comprehensive benefits package prioritizes your mental and physical health, financial stability, family obligations and professional growth.
