Job Summary Location: Pecos campus and Williams campus Performs a full range of grounds maintenance duties including mowing, weeding, planting, fertilizing, and pruning of shrubs, hedges, and trees. Uses variety of tools including lawn mower, chain saw, hedge trimmer, pole saw, tractors, chippers, leaf blower, etc. to maintain college grounds. Completes irrigation system repairs and installations, athletic fields preparation and maintenance, and refuse/recycling pick-up/collections throughout the campus. Completes event set-up support to include furniture and equipment moving and set-up and take down. May perform mechanical maintenance on departmental equipment, tools, and machinery for use in departmental operations. Essential Functions 50% - Performs General Groundskeeping work including mowing, weeding, pruning, planting and watering of flowers, shrubs, and trees while adhering to all applicable safety and OSHA guidelines; Keeps assigned areas free of refuse / recycle and landscape debris. 30% - Performs routine and preventative maintenance and installations of irrigation systems, completes periodic inspection on irrigation systems. 10% - Assists with athletic field maintenance and preparation; assists with campus events set-up and maintenance. 5% - Maintain and repair assigned equipment and tools in proper working order. 5% - Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Completion of formal or informal education or experience which assures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for the successful completion of the job duties as described. Desired Qualifications 1. Two (2) years' experience performing general landscaping/groundskeeping duties safely in a highly populated area in support of diverse populations. 2. Working knowledge of standard horticultural and groundskeeping practices. Knowledge related to proper chemicals, fertilizers, soils, seed. ect. 3. Two (3) or more years' experience with requirements related to irrigation systems. 4. Two (2) years' experience in knowledge of installing plants grass, shrubs, trees, and flowers. 5. Experience operating and maintaining basic groundskeeping tools and equipment including (but not limited to) blowers, mowers, tractors, string and bladed trimmers, chippers, rakes, pruners, hoses, generators, pumps, etc... 6. Experience with athletic turf maintenance for athletics for sports utilization which includes experience operating riding lawn mowers. Special Working Conditions
