Overview
Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care ( UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Coordinator for Staff Affairs for the Administration within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

The primary purpose of the Coordinator for Staff Affairs is to be responsible for coordinating day-to-day personnel administration matters and activities. Provides confidential staff and administrative support. Develops and implements plans, guides, and procedures. Exercises considerable discretion and judgement.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • 2. Responds to employees' inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Provides information in alignment with practices, guidelines, procedures, labor laws, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of workflows, guidelines, and policies.
  • Ensures compliance deadline adherence for employment documents including performance appraisals and trainings.
  • Responsible for employee information and records management and retention. Tracks completion of and stores all required documentation.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality of all information.
  • Participates in departmental union contract negotiation and strategy meetings.
  • Responsible for the provision of high-level support as it relates to union data, strategy, grievances, and requests.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports and correspondence for UBHC. Compiles data, performs analyses, and submits conclusions and recommendations for enhancements within appropriate timeframes.
  • Ensures submission of supporting documentation as necessary to implement personnel actions.
  • Completes assigned administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree plus five (5) years of related professional, administrative, or human resources experience in a relevant setting required.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and human relations skills.
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, HCM Cloud, PeopleSoft, and ROCS.

  • PHR certification.
