MHS is seeking a dynamic Band Teacher. The Band Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging and developmentally appropriate classroom where students learn developmentally appropriate musicianship techniques, skills, and musical concepts in a positive learning environment. The Band Teacher emphasizes creativity and musical expression and fosters a lifelong appreciation for music in the students. The Band Director also prepares students for and conducts 3 annual concerts.

MHS teachers plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, meaningful, and rigorous lessons. They create and analyze assessments to differentiate instruction, design programming, and accommodate individual student and whole group needs.

MHS teachers collaborate extensively with fellow faculty & others to ensure a whole child approach is taken to student development and that instruction is integrated across academic disciplines. MHS Teachers support school wide initiatives such as social & emotional learning and wellness. They also are required to schedule and complete an additional duty to their teaching schedules.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in music education. PA (or other state) Teacher Certification is required. Demonstrated successful Band instruction experience with elementary aged students using Band pedagogy for winds and percussion.
  • Individual and small group piano instruction experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with diverse students from disadvantaged backgrounds is a plus.
  • Exceptional skills in behavior management are required.
  • Demonstrated skills in differentiating instruction and collaborating with fellow faculty, working as a positive member of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills are required.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are role models for students.
  • MHS desires candidates who are "all in" and actively engage with students beyond the classroom.
