As a Senior Manager, Tools and Processes for Software Development,you will be responsible for overseeing the selection, implementation, and optimization of tools and processes within the software development organization. This role ensures that the development team has the necessary resources and efficient workflows to deliver high-quality software products that comply with regulatory standards. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Tool Management: Evaluate, select, and implement software development tools that enhance productivity and quality. Ensure tools are up-to-date and meet the needs of the development team.
  • Process Optimization: Develop, document, and optimize software development processes to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to the development team on the use of tools and adherence to processes. Ensure team members are proficient and comfortable with the tools and processes in place.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all tools and processes comply with relevant regulatory standards and guidelines. Maintain documentation to support regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, quality assurance, and regulatory teams to ensure tools and processes align with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in tools and processes. Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance the software development lifecycle.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with third-party vendors to evaluate and integrate external tools and services. Manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal performance and support.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects related to tool implementation and process improvement. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of tools and processes. Report on metrics to senior management and recommend improvements.

What You'll Bring to Alcon:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs). P
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 7 Years of Relevant Experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a managerial role focused on tools and processes within the medical device industry.
