Overview:

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hiring an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician

$5,000 Sign on Bonus for Qualified Candidates!

Location: Woodbridge, VA

Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Shift: Rotating

Hours: 6am-11pm (occasional overnight coverage)

Weekends: Every Other Weekend

Holiday Rotation

The Pharmacy Tech performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)

Experience

  • 1 Year of Pharmacy Experience (Required)
  • IV Experienced (Preferred)
  • Hospital Experience (Preferred)
  • 3-5 Years of Retail experience in lieu of Hospital experience
