Summary

The Regional Lead, Field Medical Affairs leads a high performing Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team, understands Lantheus products and pipeline strategy, and works collaboratively within a matrix organization. The Regional Lead, Field Medical Affairs, provides strategic and tactical direction to MSL teams and ensures execution on territory plans, insight collection, scientific meeting attendance, and support of Lantheus pipeline and research portfolio.

Essential Functions



  • Participates as a member of the field leadership team to support strategic and tactical field medical planning and execution.
  • Demonstrates expertise and a working knowledge of clinical oncology, radiopharmaceuticals and medical imaging.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills with the ability to present approved scientific data of varying levels of complexity to internal and external customers in both group and one-to-one settings, appropriately adjusted to the audience and in accordance with Company Policies.
  • Supports MSL team members in the development territory planning that align territory activities to Lantheus company goals and objectives.
  • Supports MSL team members in the development of long-term scientific relationships with urology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine key opinion leaders (KOLs) and community practice leaders (CPLs) within assigned territories.
  • Ensures MSL teams develop and maintain a working knowledge of Lantheus products, pipeline, approved field resources, scientific platforms, key insight questions, and clinical trials to deliver on high level scientific engagement and insight collection.
  • Oversees MSL activities at scientific meeting and congresses to ensure execution on scientific engagement plans, session and poster coverage, support of medical exhibit, and delivery of impactful meeting summaries.
  • Ensures MSL team effectively supports Lantheus investigator-initiated study (IST) program through dissemination of program areas of interest, submission of letters of intent, and routine follow-up with IST investigators. Ensures team effectively supports company-sponsored trials activities as requested by clinical development.
  • Effectively communicates goals, objectives, and expectations to MSLs through monthly regional team meetings, one-on-one interactions, field visits, and attendance at scientific meetings. Consistently communicates in an open and honest manner that supports team success and a collaborative work environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to multi-task by balancing field travel, administrative responsibilities, coaching and counseling, employee development, and adherence to corporate policies.
  • Fully understands and adheres to Lantheus policies and procedures, Lantheus Medical Imaging Pharmacovigilance SOPs, the PhRMA Code, IHC Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice, HIPPA and relevant FDA laws and regulations.


Skills and Experience and Education



  • PhD, PharmD or MD; required
  • 10+ years of industry experience including 5+ years Medical Science Liaison experience; preferred
  • 5+ years clinical experience in oncology, urology or radiopharmaceuticals industry; preferred
  • Demonstrated success in new hire onboarding and mentorship
  • Ability to retain and motivate strong performers. Able to make appropriate and timely decisions on non-performers in accordance with legal/HR/corporate policies.
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to communicate effectively with senior management, MSL team, peers, and all cross-functional teams
  • Highly motivated to achieve optimal results with a demonstrated record of growth and achievement
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to and communicate change
  • Exceptional communicator and presenter with proven oral and written communications skills


Other Requirements



  • Demonstrated Leadership Competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently assimilate diverse and complex medical and scientific data from sponsored or independent non-clinical and clinical studies and articulate summary information in verbal and written form.
  • 50% travel based on educational, business and scientific meeting purposes.
