We are currently looking for a Food Forensics Associate to join our growing team!
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Food Forensics isolates filth elements from various food products and performs chemical analysis on spices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs wet chemical analysis to isolate micro extraneous filth elements from various food products.
- Performs chemical analysis to determine spice quality.
- Reports results for basic tests.
- Actively participates in and understands all relevant Quality Control testing requirements.
- Other duties as required.
POSITION OBJECTIVES:
- Using the appropriate SOP's, performs wet chemical analysis to accurately isolate microextraneous filth elements from various food products.
- Accurately report results for analytical testing performed.
- Actively participate in any Spice Chemical Proficiency Samples Program deemed relevant by Certified Laboratories.
- Utilizing the appropriate reagents, prepares solutions necessary to perform filth extractions. Including accurately labeling and record keeping of all solutions and reagents prepared.
- Performs qualitative and quantitative spice chemical analysis using the proper Compendial methodology and/or SOP's.
- Macroscopically analyze various food products to isolate and quantify visual contaminants.
- Maintain proficiency while use and calibration of the top loaders and analytical balances.
- Awareness in the proper use and care of various microscopes.
- Works effectively other departments.
- Proactively looking for ways to help others.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- BS degree and appropriate industry specific experience, or BA/BS degree, preferably in life sciences; current employees without the required degree have been grandfathered based on their years of experience already in the position.
- Strong relevant qualitative and quantitative skills.
- Excellent organizational skills - ability to use your time, energy, resources, etc. in an effective manner.
