The Staff Engineering Project Lead reports to the Division Deputy Director of Engineering. This role includes direct supervision of IPT Leads and is accountable for ensuring the team's technical and engineering execution performance throughout the full product lifecycle. Additionally, the role is responsible for advancing both IPT and Project Engineering skillsets within the organization by developing standards, clarifying expectations, and creating training programs for the entire engineering development team. The focus extends beyond development engineering to include how the team interfaces with other departments, such as Product Support Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality.

As a Staff Engineering Project Lead, you will:
- Support IPT Leads throughout a project's lifecycle, with a heavy emphasis on: (1) Ensuring development programs are well-positioned for deterministic execution with technically sound initial assumptions, risk balancing, and effective change management structures. (2) Resolving production or field quality issues quickly, in accordance with contract terms, while sustaining positive customer relationships.
- Ensure adherence to baselined plans (technical, scope, budget, schedule) and deliver commitments to Moog's Business Sector and customers. Demonstrate expertise in earned value management (EVM) and project management fundamentals (critical path analysis, risk/scope/change management, product cost vs. price).
- Create training materials and provide one-on-one mentoring for Project Engineers and IPT Leads. Drive standards and training initiatives for these groups.
- Integrate technical solutions and initiatives into functional and division business objectives, priorities, and technology roadmaps. Align closely with division and site leadership to assess present and future business needs and direction.
- Lead and develop teams with effectiveness, ensuring clear and impactful communication across all levels, both within the organization and externally.
- Act in full coordination with Functional Engineering, Product Engineering, the Office of Chief Engineers, and Business Unit/Program leadership to ensure New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts are planned and executed successfully, effectively managed through production ramp-up challenges, and sustained through the production.
- Establish relationships with customer and Moog networks built on trust and competence. Maintain good emotional intelligence, deliver clear and transparent communication, and actively listen to the "voice of the customer".
- Demonstrate effective systems thinking and understand how technical performance, producibility, product quality, business considerations, and customer needs must be balanced.
- Provide technical perspective and guidance regarding potential business decisions that may have long-term financial or strategic impact. Be a key influencer in driving the group's efforts to increase profitability.
- Demonstrate the charisma, trust and technical acumen for driving to resolution for complex issues involving engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, programs, and customer considerations. Prioritize cross-functional collaboration to achieve division and group-level goals. We are all in this together!
To be considered for the IPT Engineering Lead, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Typically requires 10 years of experience in a leadership or management role
- Proven track record of effectively guiding cross-functional teams through multiple stages of a development program, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Strong leader of people and team builder, with excellent communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Technically strong and familiar with engineering processes, with strong business acumen and expertise in Earned Value Management.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically at least 20%.

Salary Range Transparency: Buffalo, NY $150,000.00-$190,000.00 Annually
