GENERAL FUNCTION

The Release Manager is responsible for all activities related to Point of Sale (POS) IT application releases to the production environment. Responsibilities include but not limited to planning, alignment, execution and communication of release calendar, deployment plans, leadership alignment, post deployment monitoring while maintaining a high-level technical understanding of the application suite to ensure cross-functional success throughout the numerous projects in flight.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Maintain Release Calendar documentation to include project dates, ticket information and business units impacted
  • Review calendar on a bi-weekly basis with POS team maintaining alignment and updates to manage cross-functional alignment ensuring deployment timing and resources are without conflicts
  • Partner with the development teams, testing, and business leads to ensure the POS changes are delivered in conjunction with other dependent application releases (i.e. SAP, ESB)
  • Proactively address, control and report issues related to the project timelines including technical code-based concerns and/or dependencies
  • Compile effective deployment plans and timing with direct input from development and POS admin teams for deployment tasks to lead release execution with a multi-faceted approach aligning internal and external employees to the plan
  • Facilitate review meetings of comprehensive deployment planning from the release overview and requirements to the testing signoff and task execution planning
  • Manage awareness related to deployments, risks and issues to IT leadership for Go-Live approval
  • Establish post-release support plan including IT and business validation with escalation and mitigation plans
  • Facilitate off-hours deployments of code, managing technical resources, assigning tasks, tracking timing, documenting and escalating issues and lessons learned throughout deployment
  • Initiate and manage pre- and post-release communications with global IT leadership and demand managers
  • Maintain and document releases through the change management process, using vendor resources for assigned deployment tasks and alignment for defined deployment plans
  • Maintain documentation for needed yearly audit reviews, tracing timing, steps, and approvals for production deployments
  • Lead and design release management best practices, standards and processes, educating the POS team on these standards
  • Monitor feedback and deployment metrics, addressing, leading and reporting production release issues
  • Collaborate and manage offshore release manager aligning on release related activities



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree required, preferred Information Technology/Information Systems
  • A minimum of 5 years of combined technical and business experience
  • Proven ability to apply technical knowledge in a business context to achieve organizational goals



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Broad understanding of database structure and table relationships
  • Ability to work in complex technical environment
