National Grid is hiring a Manager of Data Science. This position offers remote flexibility, with the requirement that candidates reside in one of the following states: New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), Massachusetts (MA), Connecticut (CT), Vermont (VT), Rhode Island (RI), Maine (ME), or New Hampshire (NH).

As a Data Science Manager at National Grid, you will lead a team and do hands-on work,deliver projects, build AI models, code, and so on. You will work in a dynamic organization to turn data into actionable intelligence. The variety and complexity of challenges you will solve is second to none, but most important is the real world impact your work will have on the lives of millions of people.AAAThe National Grid Data Science teams provide insights and conclusions from multiple sources of information in a variety of different formats using analysis techniques that range from simple to advanced. An ability to work cross-functionally and on agile teams is critical and you should have a broad knowledge of:

AA* Programming/Software Development

AA* Effective Visualization and Presentation

Key Accountabilities

AAAAAAAAAAAALead, manage, and mentor a team of Data Scientists
AAAAAAAAAAAAEmploy sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning, and statistical methods for predictive and prescriptive modeling, forecasting, and simulations
AAAAAAAAAAAADiscover the best methods of integrating data from several different sources and formats for use in analyses
AAAAAAAAAAAAProject manage efforts both internal to the team and across all of the enterprise: US and UK, Gas, Electric, all Support Functions
AAAAAAAAAAAABe intellectually curious and enjoy learning AAA" we are constantly innovating and exploring

Qualifications

AAAAAAAAAAAA5+ years of Data Science experience (utility or energy sector is a plus)
AAAAAAAAAAAAExperience leading a team of Data Scientists
AAAAAAAAAAAADemonstrated ability to communicate and interact with business stakeholders without supervision
AAAAAAAAAAAADemonstrated ability to translate technical knowledge into business terms
AAAAAAAAAFluency in:
AAAAAAAAAAAAData Science tools and techniques: from statistics to ML to GenAI
AAAAAAAAAAAAPython
AAAAAAAAAAAASQL
AAAAAAAAAAAAExperience with cloud computing in Linux and Windows environments (Azure is a plus)
AAAAAAAAAAAAMasterAAAs degree in a quantitative discipline, exceptional candidates considered with BachelorAAAs degree or MasterAAAs degree in progress

AAAAAAAAAAAAExperience with Gen AI and LLM tools
AAAAAAAAAAAAData Science competition entries (kaggle, kdnuggets, etc.)
AAAAAAAAAAAAExperimental Design experience
AAAAAAAAAAAAInteractive visualization tools (Power BI is a plus)
AAAAAAAAAAAAGIS knowledge (ArcGIS is a plus)

Salary

$161k- $189k a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
