Summary:

DRC is seeking a Psychometrician with a strong background in educational measurement to support the design, development, validation, and analysis of large-scale assessments across a variety of programs. The Psychometrician will work with DRC's educational data science team, collaborating with clients to determine how DRC's psychometric solutions match their unique program's needs. A successful candidate will demonstrate significant understanding of best practices in assessment design and measurement theory, and will help us advance our mission by integrating robust measurement theory with scalable intelligent systems. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to traditional psychometric practices while also engaging with emerging technologies and machine learning methodology.

Essential Position Responsibilities:




  • Analyze large-scale assessment data to inform decision-making and support test development.
  • Support the automation of routine psychometric tasks and participate in the development of innovative assessment technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including content developers, data scientists, psychometricians, and software engineers.
  • Assist in the design and validation of assessments to ensure fairness, reliability, and validity.
  • Conduct psychometric analyses including classical test theory (CTT), item response theory (IRT), test equating, differential item functioning, etc.
  • Document technical procedures and contribute to technical documentation for dissemination (reports, peer-reviewed publications, and conference presentations).
  • Ensure that psychometric practices are implemented and documented consistently to meet industry standards and that quality assurance criteria, project schedules and deadlines are met.



Required Qualifications:




  • Doctoral degree in Educational Measurement, Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology, or related discipline
  • 1+ years of experience working with educational assessment data
  • 5+ years Demonstrated experience with psychometric modeling and statistical data analysis
  • Proficiency with open-source statistical software (R and/or Python) for data manipulation and statistical modeling
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in collaboration with other team members



Preferred Qualifications:




  • Experience in applying Machine Learning/ Data Science/ Statistical techniques
  • Familiarity with modern machine learning techniques and their applications in educational assessment
  • Knowledge of large language models (LLMs) and their implications for assessment and learning.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Set and meet deadlines
  • Manage multiple job functions simultaneously



Reporting to this position: No direct reports

Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time.
  • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary.
