Compensation:$21.75 - $21.75/hour

This position will be based in the location(s) specified in the job posting and requires working on-site with no telecommuting option. You will be expected to live within a commutable distance.

Are you passionate about wine and interested in learning about grape and wine? The Grape Assessment Lab is seeking a seasonal lab tech to support our operation and deliver quality chemistry data used for research and production. As a member of our team, you will be exposed to our grape supply and have hands-on experience operating equipment used to process grapes into lab samples. In addition, you will be exposed to grape analytical methods. To fulfill this position, you will be required to have daily communication with supervisor and stay up to date with email and other various forms of communication platforms. Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness. Under general supervision, for portions of the time if not all, you will work in a wet lab setting working with a team to process samples in a timely manner and responsible that all chemicals used are handled correctly. You will operate machinery independently or alongside colleagues. You may be required to work in the analytical lab assisting analyst with sample preparation and operating analytical instruments. Since work will take place in a wet lab setting and analytical setting, you will be responsible for following all safety procedures and measures pertaining to each work setting. To fulfill some tasks, you may need to drive to different job sites. What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree with a minimum of 12 units of completed college level chemistry or biology courses with labs; OR In the process of and will obtain a Bachelor's or Associate's degree when Harvest begins (July/August) with a minimum of 12 units of completed college level chemistry or biology courses with labs; OR High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 3 years of Laboratory Technician experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility OR High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, plus 3 Harvest Seasons as a Gallo Laboratory Assistant.
  • Required to possess strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Required to lift and carry cases of product that can weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to maintain 3 shift availability (day, swing, and graveyard); required to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
  • Required to conduct work at extreme heights.
  • Required to be at least 21 years of age.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
