The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for an Inventory Control Coordinator to be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all inventories.

This person will maintain proper inventory levels throughout the production cycle of the organization's product. They pull or replenish inventory to satisfy organization needs, ensure shipment and delivery time schedules are maintained and investigate and correct inventory discrepancies.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Suwanee, GA office.

Work Schedule: M-F, 7am-3:30pm

What we're looking for:

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience:
  • 2+ years experience in material handling/inventory replenishment or customer service.
  • Solid understanding and experience in shipping, inventory, or purchasing.
  • Knowledge of inventory management procedures and general warehousing terminology and practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel (ie. experience using formulas, spreadsheets, creating v-lookups, pivot tables).
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to self-manage, self-motivate, prioritize tasks, and be forward thinking to meet goals.
  • Knowledge of scientific products and services is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of SAP Systems a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills including a professional can do demeanor.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact and communicate effectively with customers, different management levels, internal contacts and various departments.
  • Previous experience managing associates is preferred.
  • Proven time management, forecasting knowledge, and/or expediting experience.
  • Problem-solving, analytical and team building skills.
  • Business level communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Hands-on, team oriented and committed to business improvement processes.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

  • Conduct inventory management of consumables, chemicals, including accurate inventory control, processing requests leading to inventory movement and fulfilling customer orders.
  • Monitor slow moving and dead inventory, conduct cycle counting, yearly physical inventories, and reporting.
  • Perform periodic review of inventory stock, recording quantity, type, and value of materials on hand.

  • Use systems to track and confirm inventory progress. Handle all paperwork and follow all procedures to meet this goal.
  • Verify as needed all orders received and shipped and ensure that the orders are properly accounted for in the company's records.
  • Account for all defective or damaged products and follow up with appropriate corrective action.
  • Manage and reconcile all cycle counts.
  • Work closely with suppliers, the warehouse team, Accounts Payable and other distribution centers.
  • Provide daily customer service functions and communicates with the customer relative to inventory management.
  • Purchasing functions including but not limited to back-order reporting and expediting, 3rd party support, managing quotes, document control, records maintenance, and resolving open invoices or pricing issues.
  • Utilize Avantor and customer computer specific systems (SAP, Citrix, Intranet, Avantor Inventory Management Systems), in fulfillment of job duties.
  • Meet goals and objectives: safety, performance, and quality.
  • Play a critical role in ensuring that inventory levels are optimized to meet customer demand.
  • This position requires close coordination with suppliers, production teams, and other departments to manage inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce waste.
  • Maintain and update accurate inventory records.
  • Collaborate in developing and implementing strategies to minimize stockouts and overstocking situations.
  • Follow Inventory Control procedures for reconciling inventory issues.
  • Efficient and accurate management of IC procedures.
  • Reconcile inventory and adjust when necessary.
  • Determine disposition on Receiving discrepancies and non-conforming product issues for assigned vendors and DC stock transfers.
  • Work multiple reports to ensure inventory accuracy in system.
  • Track Inventory Control progress thru multiple system reports and Excel/Access data entry.
  • Request cycle counts as needed and makes system adjustments, as necessary.
  • Make recommendations to the DC Supervisor on ways to improve inventory management.
  • Conduct searches within the systems and work with warehouse team to locate products.
  • Adjust records when there are discrepancies and takes steps to correct and prevent future discrepancies.
  • Follow requirements for reporting and documentation to facilitate accurate inventory counts and stock adjustments.
  • Communicate timing of physical inventories and any variances.
  • Assist with Customer Service phone inquiries as needed regarding inventory questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort:

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Although the associate performs clerical duties, while performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to an industrial warehouse environment. The associate may work near moving mechanical machinery and noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
