- Oversee the ongoing maintenance, updates, and enhancements, ensuring that these systems remain reliable, secure, and performant.
- Hold team members accountable for timely and efficient issue resolution, system performance, and the successful delivery of system enhancements.
- Ensure that all tickets are addressed promptly, and the team follows proper protocols for issue resolution, escalation, and documentation.
- Proactively identify opportunities for enhancing the functionality, performance, and scalability of both systems.
- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of improvements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand system requirements, gather feedback, and translate that into actionable technical solutions.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide status updates, resolve issues, and ensure alignment on system needs.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable PHP code for system enhancements, bug fixes, and updates to the legacy systems.
- Ensure all changes are thoroughly tested and documented.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior developers.
- Help the team navigate complex issues, suggest best practices, and ensure that all technical processes are followed.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize code to ensure systems run efficiently and are scalable to support business growth.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to system stability, security vulnerabilities, and technical debt. Lead efforts to update systems to modern standards while minimizing disruption.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in PHP development, with a strong focus on maintaining and enhancing legacy systems.
- Proven track record in leading and managing development teams, particularly in a technical leadership capacity.
- Proficiency in PHP (versions 7.x and 8.x), MySQL, and web technologies.
- Familiarity with legacy systems and understanding of strategies for updating and optimizing them.
- Experience with version control tools like Git and collaborative development practices.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Experience managing a ticketing system and overseeing issue resolution.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor junior developers and hold the team accountable for performance and deliverables.
- Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on identifying the root cause of issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and ensure alignment on goals and objectives.
- Comfortable working with legacy code while balancing the need for innovation and modernization. Passionate about learning new technologies and best practices.
