The Senior Microsoft Exchange Online Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of Microsoft 365 environments, ensuring seamless integration, security, and optimal performance of all related services. This position will provide subject matter expertise in support of Exchange on-premises, Exchange Online, and Microsoft 365 core services.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Azure Active Directory/Entra ID.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for complex issues related to Microsoft 365 services.
Implement and maintain security measures, including data loss prevention, compliance policies, and threat protection.
- Develop and maintain documentation for Microsoft 365 environments, including architecture diagrams, configuration settings, and operational procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to email delivery, synchronization, and connectivity.
- Stay current with the latest developments and best practices in Microsoft 365 and related technologies.
- Prioritize deliverables including project and BAU activities.
- Provide on-call support for operational support teams, including tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements for deployed M365 components.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of Exchange Online with other systems.
- Perform migrations to Exchange Online after hours on a rotating basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or equivalent IT work experience (10+ years)
- 10+ years' experience with Microsoft Exchange on premises (Expert level)
- 4+ years' experience with Microsoft Exchange Online including migrations.
- 3+ years' experience with Microsoft Teams Online including 3rd party integrations.
- Extensive experience in managing and supporting Microsoft 365 services.
- Strong understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3) and email security.
Preferred Skills:
- Extensive experience creating and modifying PowerShell scripts to automate and manage on-premises and cloud-based Microsoft offerings.
- Extensive hands-on experience managing M365 and Azure tenants, including Entra ID, Conditional Access Policies and security settings related to regulatory compliance.
- 3+ years' experience with Email Protection with a deep understanding of DKIM, SPF, and DMARC.
- Extensive experience with eDiscovery & Electronic Communications Compliance Management in a heavily regulated industry.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting end user clients (Outlook and MS Teams) on multiple platforms (Windows, MacOS, iOS & Android).
- Ability to explain technical procedures in business terms for non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to develop strategic customer relationships, gain trust, and respect for the team.
- Able to solve complex technical problems through sound and methodical troubleshooting.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence a plus.

Estimated Max Rate: $65.00
