National Grid Ventures is hiring a Commercial Strategy Manager for our US Offshore Wind development. The hybrid role can be located in our Brooklyn, NY, Boston, MA or Waltham, MA office.

Job Purpose

National Grid Ventures is hiring a strategic, collaborative leader who will be a driver of success in its fast-growing competitive transmission business. At NGV you will be a part of a dynamic and expanding team where developing critical energy infrastructure solutions, building strong working relationships, and taking a hands-on approach to problem solving and decision making are an integral part of your daily work.

In this mission-critical role you will manage a team working cross-functionally to develop comprehensive bids - competing on cost, technical viability, and development feasibility, among other factors - to secure awards for competitive transmission projects across the US. Your team will work with Business Development teams to design winning bid strategies and orchestrate the project team to successfully deliver bids.

You will apply your commercial and technical expertise and harness the expertise of the project team and global functions. The ideal candidate will have exceptional project management skills, a refined strategy toolkit, a track record of collaborating across functions and borders, strong commercial acumen, and experience communicating with senior executives.

To be a skilled practitioner and subject matter expert in commercial contracts, partnerships and corporate agreements to support projects through development. To deliver strong commercial support to Business projects.

Key Accountabilities

* Manages and develops a team of high performing analysts who will contribute to a matrix team structure for the delivery of well designed, clear and compelling Requests for Proposal response for transmission development projects across multiple ISOs.
* Develops materials for strategic meetings with NG Executives, JV Board(s) where relevant and/or on transmission related topics.
* Acts as key collaborator/coordinator across the broader National Grid and National Grid Ventures organization, including leading specific Transmission commercial and strategy project workstreams' delivery.
* Monitors emerging industry related transmission policies and developments, working with policy, stakeholder engagement, corporate affairs teams as well as external participants, as needed, to influence and steer towards desired or favorable NG/NGV outcomes.
* Monitors competitive landscape and keeps team up to date on developments, advising on risks and opportunities for expansion. Recommends the best course of action to deliver on current business strategy.
* Gather and prepare information on projects to facilitate risk evaluation and decision-making
* Sets clear performance goals and directions that enable the department to achieve business outcomes.
* Builds a trusting environment, encouraging diverse thoughts and perspectives.

Qualifications

* Minimum: Bachelor's degree and advanced post graduate degree (MBA) preferred and 5-7+ years of relevant work experience in transmission infrastructure developments, policies and/or energy industry, leading complex projects.
* Experience working with or in the power sector or delivering of large infrastructure projects
* Knowledge of US power industry and transmission development experience preferred
* Knowledge of federal & state RFP and siting processes, ISO (NYISO, PJM, NE-ISO, MISO) processes and policies is desirable.
* Experience working with various areas of legal requirements, such real estate, regulatory filings, commercial arrangements, supplier contracts and other, is highly desirable.
* Detail-oriented, quantitative & analytical skills, team-player, with solid communication skills
* Advanced writing/power point story-telling skills highly desirable
* Familiarity with recent trends in conventional generation, offshore wind, energy storage, transmission & distributed generation is beneficial.

Salary

New England MA $162,000 - $190,000 a year

Downstate NY $173,000 - $203,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
