Job Title: Machine Operator I

FLSA Status (US): Non-Exempt

Department: Operations

Reports To: Production Manager

Summary:

The Case Packaging Operator (Machine Operator I) is responsible for operation of packaging equipment and accurately accounting for incoming packaging materials and record their usage. Follow written and verbal instructions to ensure production and quality targets are being met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Accurately account for incoming packaging materials and record their usage
  • Add packaging materials to the case erector as needed maintaining constant production flow.
  • Run case packing machine and understand proper operation of the case packing machine.
  • Responsible for making sure the boxes are fully opened and ready for product.
  • Responsible for ensuring machine is operating correctly and feeding the correct amount of product into the case accurately.
  • Follow procedures as per the SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Ensure all packaging functions are operating at maximum efficiency
  • Ensure the code date is correct; glue pot has correct temperature and is full.
  • Verify production schedule, raw materials, and product specifications
  • Follow company GMP's (good manufacturingpractices) and all other quality programs as they relate to the production department
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and as a member of a team
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required
  • Maintain a sanitary work area, including keeping the floor clean of product or. Ensure work area is free of contamination from tools, equipment or other materials. Ensure all machine parts are being properly stored when not in use.
  • Transport cartons and cardboard to the compactor for recycling. Responsible for loading and unloading compactor.
  • Strictly adhere to all Safety policies (i.e. Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, etc.)
  • Committed to ensuring that the products produced meet all food safety and quality requirements
  • Able to operate Cardboard recycling bailer machine


  • Asist with other duties assigned by supervisory staff

  • Team player

  • Detail orientated
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Mechanical and Troubleshooting skills
  • Food Industry experience and knowledge of GMP.
  • Able to consistently lift up to 50 pounds above shoulders
  • Must be able to tolerate standing for long periods of time (8-12) hours.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision



Education:

High School Diploma/GED

Experience:

Manufacturing experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Candidate must possess basic math skills. Be detailed orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills.

None

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Majority of work is performed standing. Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs to 50 lbs and be able to climb and descend staircases multiple times per hour.
