As part of HVAC Cooling, SPX Cooling Technologies is a leader in high quality industrial HVAC equipment used to cool large facilities like hospitals, data centers, and power plants. How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The Manager, EHS Construction plays a critical role in overseeing and administering the construction safety program at SPX Cooling. This position is responsible for managing field safety personnel, developing and enforcing safety policies, conducting training, auditing job sites, and overseeing injury management to ensure a proactive and effective safety culture. Reporting directly to the Director, Construction. The incumbent collaborates with all levels of employees to integrate safety into daily operations while continuously improving policies and compliance standards.

The successful incumbent effectively manages a challenging workload and as needed, delegates tasks to others in supporting roles. Success in this role demands outstanding leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Safety Program Management
  • Develop, implement, and enforce SPX safety policies and OSHA/MHSA compliance.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update construction safety policies, including lockout procedures and fall protection programs.
  1. Team Leadership and Field Support
  • Manage a team of EHS Specialists and Field Safety Supervisors.
  • Provide guidance to job site Superintendents on safe work practices.
  • Recruit, train, and support field safety personnel to ensure effective job performance.
  1. Compliance and Reporting
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log and manage prequalification databases (ISNetworld, Browz, etc.).
  • Generate and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual safety reports.
  • Review and approve safety parameters for construction contracts.
  1. Training and Communication
  • Conduct 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA training, fall protection, and other required safety courses.
  • Lead weekly safety conference calls and participate in safety reviews with supervisors.
  • Develop and distribute "Safety Alerts" and other communications to address safety concerns.

What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a construction environment

Ideal Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of safety experience, preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field, preferred
  • CSP, ASP, CIT, STSC, or CHMM safety credentials, preferred
  • OSHA 500 Certification
  • CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
  • OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technician)
  • OSHA 30 (Construction)

Travel & Working Environment

  • Often works in an onsite office environment
  • Often works in an outside environment, exposure to excessive noise, heat, or bad weather.
  • Often required to travel to different locations during the week, requiring long hours of travel by vehicle or plane.
  • The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours.
  • Keyboarding/typing.
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiples tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
