We are seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities Assistant to join our team, this is an onsite role at Global Headquarters in Portland, Maine. This role is responsible for maintaining the facility, ensuring all systems function properly, and assisting with event setup and tear-down. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

How you'll make an impact

Facilities Maintenance:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

• Inspect and maintain building security and fire safety systems.

• Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment longevity.

• Troubleshoot and resolve minor facility-related issues.

• Assist with janitorial and cleaning tasks as needed.

• Ability to be on call 24x7

Event Setup & Tear-Down:

• Assemble and arrange tables, chairs, staging, tents, and other event equipment according to layouts.

• Set up and test lighting, sound systems, and AV equipment as required.

• Monitor event spaces, addressing facility-related issues during events.

• Dismantle and properly store equipment after events.

• Load and unload equipment and supplies safely.

• Ensure event spaces are cleaned and restored to original condition post-event.

General Duties:

• Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.

• Work collaboratively with event staff, vendors, and other departments.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

• Respond to emergency maintenance issues promptly.

Experience you'll bring

• High School Diploma.

• Experience in facilities maintenance, general repair work, or a related field.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. and on occasion heavier items.

• Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is a plus.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor settings, depending on facility needs.

• Ability to perform physical tasks requiring frequent lifting, bending, and standing.
