The Manager, Safety, Health & Safety (SHS) is responsible for providing leadership and engagement of the site's resources towards ensuring Nutrien's safety goal of "Home Safe, Everyday" with no harm to people and accidents.

What you will do:



  • Leads, directs, and oversees the creation, implementation, compliance, and auditing of the site's Safety, Health,and Loss Prevention/ Risk Management functional programs
  • Leads creation & defines annual Safety, Health and Security goals and objectives that are initiative-taking and aligned to Nutrien Standards and Best Practices
  • Complete authority to ensure compliance with OSHA, USEPA, GAEPD statues and guidelines; educate line management on compliance issues
  • Coordinates with site training department the development and implementation of company and contractor employee related Safety, Health training programs and provide forward direction
  • Measures, reviews, and continuously improves the company's Safety, Health and Security performance through periodic assessments and audits - life critical, security, loss prevention, fire, and safety equipment
  • Provides management support to and ensures effectiveness of the Exposure Based Safety Process as a management sponsor i.e. data analysis, trending, barrier removal
  • Creates and manages Safety, Health & Security Department operational budgets inclusive of overtime management
  • Ensures the completion of the Safety, Health & Security incident investigations as required -TapRoot, 5 Wh
  • Leads and executes Safety, Health & Security strategy for major TARs and Outages
  • Direct plant medical and worker compensation programs
  • Leads the work scope of the Industrial Hygienist, i.e., surveys concerning lighting, noise, plant ventilation, evaluate and control physical stress; implementation of a chemical monitoring program to prevent or abate dangerous and harmful conditions arising from various plant operations
  • Ensures implementation and coordination of site's Medical, Health & Wellness Program - promotion, medical screening, nutrition, mental health
  • Manages and directs the Emergency Crew- Fire, HAZMAT, Medical and Confined Space Rescue Teams, provides off-site response in transport of product as required
  • Serve as Incident Commander in the event of a major plant incident
  • Ensures Emergency Management and Crisis Communications Plans are kept up to date and tested annually with emergency and crisis communication drills(including outside agencies when applicable)
  • Provides leadership, technical expertise, and oversight for safety and health risk management programs to reduce site risk, employee exposure, and community risk through advanced risk management techniques, exposure-based safety systems
  • Participates in Safety assessments and provide assistance when needed to other Nutrien sites to evaluate performance against the Nutrien SH&S expectations
  • Advance and cultivate relationship with local emergency response agencies, e.g. LEPC, police, fire, EMS, etc.
  • Develop and implement safety related training for emergency response, new employee orientation, annual training, security awareness etc.
  • Expand and maintain personal knowledge of all state and federal safety and health law and regulations
  • Manage all department personnel in Safety, Health, and Security responsibilities



What you will bring:



  • Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety, Engineering, or other related field of study preferred(Master's Degree considered an asset)
  • 10+ years at a chemicalmanufacturing orprocess plant; minimum 5 years relevant Safety, Health, and security experience at aleadership level
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent presenting, verbal, and written communication skills
