Process Technician

Job Description Summary

AAM is searching for a Process Technician to join our Driveline Organization. This position will be based out of our Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) in Detroit, MI. As a Process Technician, you will perform quality inspections, qualify and set up gauge probes, work with others on any tooling issues, as well as assist as Team Lead when needed.
This is for 2nd shift, 3PM to 11PM.

Job Description

  • Review and replace all necessary components on tools that are needed for production.
  • Maintain daily inventory on all tools and components.
  • Work with vendors & engineer on any tooling issues or repairs.
  • Perform Tool measurement of all tools prior to releasing tool for production using Zoller.
  • Sets up, and operates CNC milling, production tooling, or other machinery according to process specifications.
  • Operates machines, monitors operation and control panel displays to detect malfunctions, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments.
  • Able to perform offsets and basic troubleshooting.
  • Problem-solving in a manufacturing environment.
  • Train production operators on gage operation.
  • Train quality technicians as directed.
  • Continuous maintenance of gage calibration list, gauge repair and set up tools.
  • Contacting and working with 3rd party gage suppliers as needed.
  • Responsible for repairing and calibrating gages.
  • Qualify and set up gauge probes.
  • Read/interpret prints for tolerance validation.
  • Audit floor gages each day.
  • Set up, run, program, and troubleshoot CMM equipment.
  • Continuously maintain equipment, fixturing & gauge cleanliness.
  • Complete gage report each day.
  • Working with other functional groups to complete tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of related experience (less with additional specialized training and/or certification).
  • Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
  • Ability to use CMM, gauges, calipers, micrometers, computers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality documents, set-up instructions and blueprints
