Lean Manufacturing Engineer

The Lean Manufacturing Engineer will drive continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization, and lean transformation projects within the Crystal Lake facility. This role will focus on implementing lean methodologies, enhancing material handling processes, and improving operational efficiency. A strong emphasis will be placed on reducing waste, standardizing work procedures, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements in all process improvement activities.
• Lead and execute lean manufacturing projects, including Kaizen events, 5S initiatives, and waste elimination strategies.
• Conduct process mapping (VSM) to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in manufacturing operations.
• Develop and implement material handling strategies to reduce waste, improve workflow, and optimize storage and transportation methods.
• Develop quick changeover initiatives to minimize downtime and enhance production flexibility.
• Implement and maintain standardized work procedures to improve process consistency and efficiency.
• Address operational challenges by utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Whys, 6Ms, and analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with lean principles.
• Enhance daily operational control and performance tracking, implementing lean methodologies
• Conduct time studies, cycle time analyses, and capacity planning to support production efficiency improvements.
• Provide training and coaching to employees on lean manufacturing techniques and best practices.
• Assist with industrial engineering tasks such as facility layout improvements and workstation ergonomics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or work experience will be considered.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or process engineering roles.
• Strong knowledge of lean tools and methodologies, including Kaizen, VSM, SMED, Kanban, and 5S.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and data analysis tools for manufacturing and scheduling support
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and process mapping software.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively drive change and engage teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• This role requires 100% onsite presence at the Crystal Lake facility.
• Work will be conducted in a manufacturing environment, including production floors and warehouse areas.
• Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of materials.
• Ability to work in an industrial setting with exposure to machinery and varying temperatures.

Salary Range:

$92,000-$159,000

The pay range listed is for Illinois based roles. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the pay range. Specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skill sets, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, training, and location.
