Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The GI Tech/ Lead assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians in endoscopy. Incumbent has the responsibility to assist with the assessment of patient needs and follows through with the designated plan of action. Additionally, incumbent is responsible for the care, handling, and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s). This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development within their scope and appropriately interpret and communicate information relative to the patient's age-specific needs. This individual effectively communicates data reflective of the patient's status, delegated tasks and/or functions. Functions as a lead to other GI Techs and assists with operational needs, such as ordering supplies and equipment, scheduling, patient flow, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to participate in on call rotation and work occasional weekends & evenings
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays
  • Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated completion of a relevant medical training program (i.e., MA, EMT, Surg Tech, GI, etc.)
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Current BLS certification
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Can be filled as a GI Endoscopy Technician 2 if applicant has a current GI Certification through the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates and at least 3 years' experience working as a GI/Endoscopy Technician in a hospital setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or GI Technician in an ambulatory care setting
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
  • Ability to be able to work overtime and potential weekend on call
  • Phlebotomy certification
