LOCATION OF (2) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN'S SERVICES, ADMINISTRATION DIVISION, DAVIDSON COUNTY

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

This position requires applicants to have availability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation for a standard high school and at least 24 hours (two semesters) of post-secondary education. Substitution of Experience for Education: Full-time work experience in a case management related role or a position working with children may be substituted for the required post-secondary education. Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicants for this class must:
  1. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application;
  2. Be a citizen of the United States;
  3. Possess a valid driver's license prior to and during employment;
  4. Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation;
  5. Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority;
  6. Have no conviction for a felony;
  7. Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointment authority;
  8. Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint based criminal history records check.

Overview

This classification has a considerable workload functioning at the entry level performing administrative functions of case management and related work. An employee in this class must be able to work independently with minimal supervision on assigned tasks. This classification differs from that of DCS Case Manager 1* in that an incumbent of the latter may be responsible for performing professional case management duties such as conducting home visits, recommending removal, testifying in court and participating in Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTM).

Responsibilities

  1. Providing administrative case management support to include scheduling appointments (including medical and dental screenings), entering case documentation, scribing for meetings (including Child and Family Team Meetings).
  2. Coordinating and completing diligent searches for relatives.
  3. Coordinating information for distribution of perpetrator notification letters.
  4. Assisting with transporting youth and families to medical appointments, school, court, etc.as a secondary rider.
  5. Assisting with providing supervision for parent/child or sibling visitation and supervision of youth in transitional settings while awaiting placement as a secondary supervisor of the visit.
  6. Interacting with community partners and service providers in coordination with case managers and other DCS staff.
  7. Performing data entry of non-direct child abuse referrals from web, fax or emails.
  8. Completing data base searches, criminal background checks, NCIS criminal records checks and TEIS system checks.
  9. Coordinating notification of staff for emergency referrals.
  10. Participates in required trainings on TFACTS and de-escalation techniques.
