ChampionX is seeking a US Technical Support Manager for the Theta Field Services Group, located in Odessa, TX.

What You Will Do:

  • The Technical Support Manager will be a functional manager both, overseeing and providing technical expertise and support to US LAND customers, ChampionX employees, engineering staff, and management, including but not limited to troubleshooting, safety procedures, product documentation, and a broad range of ChampionX, Production and Optimization Automation product offerings.
  • Lead the Service-Technical support team and develop the regional leads.
  • This person will be responsible for leading Automation Production and Optimization Service-Technical support team.

  • Serves as a Technical Advisor for the Spirit product line and manages high level, complex technical issues with customers to ensure smooth and effective operations.

  • Coaches experienced team members and provided feedback, when required, to help them solve problems and build capabilities.

  • Along with Director of Service, develop SOPs and training modules for Field Service Technicians. Help with streamlining all service operations.

  • Perform testing in both field and lab environments on new and sustaining products and projects. Validate proper function of these applications, and work with engineering and leadership to ensure product application(s) operates per specified requirements.

  • Provide training and mentorship to customer and company employees, including but not limited to, technical forums, customer lunch and learn, on-site customer trainings.

  • Assist Product Line Champion to implement customer and company employee feedback web-based platforms and bug/enhancement reporting for fulfilling technical assistance for customer and company employees.

  • Accept troubleshooting phone calls from ChampionX and customer employees and help to resolve issues as needed.

  • Work with engineering and other stakeholders on development and managing a release process of software releases and provide open feedback as issues with various products arise.

  • Work closely with application engineer and product line champion on product development and identifying and recording problems with hardware and/or firmware.

  • Coordinate and provide instruction to company employees on key programs and procedures.

  • Work with sales group, customers, and management to promote, maintain, and drive continuous improvement in safe work practices while monitoring, proper use of application, quality assurance, and adherence to contract requirements.

  • Propose solutions to problems in an open reporting environment, and work with departments to help resolve these issues in a timely manner, consistent with policies, regulations, and/or customer needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 12-years of direct industry experience, master electrician, or a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with qualifying electrical/controls on the job training, or associate degree in automation, controls, or instrumentation with 10 years field experience.

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of all ChampionX, Production and Optimization Automation product offerings, including but not limited to Rod Pump Controllers, SCADA and support software applications, and rod pump integrated Variable Speed Drives.

  • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of rod lift systems well pumping application.

  • Must have exposure to SCADA system products and other related SaaS offerings, including knowledge of radio/telemetry and Modbus communications protocols.

  • Must have a working knowledge of Variable Speed Drive and AC motor theory and application.

  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams.

  • Must have excellent communication skills with customers and ChampionX employees.

  • Must be willing to travel 25%% (domestic).

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in enterprise resource planning applications.

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in business and/or STEM.
