DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform routine work in the preparation of meals and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas at the Southeastern Veterans' Center. Your duties will include cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items. You can expect to prepare trays, measure portions, serve food, and transport trays, carts, and nourishment. In this position, you will be using equipment such as mixers, slicers, knives, and grinders. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of food or table arrangements for special holidays and decorate the dining area with holiday themes as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
  • Work hours will be determined from the following shifts, with rotating days and weekends, and a 30-minute lunch break.
    • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
    • 2nd shift: 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous experience as a food service worker

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
