Hybrid Work Environment

Position Overview
The Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive financial training programs that meet the needs of users, Business Process Owners (BPOs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and institutional goals. This role involves consulting with U Finance BPOs on training needs, analyzing learning needs, creating engaging and effective training materials, and applying tested instructional design theories and methods. The specialist will develop content outlines, storyboard courses, and create supporting materials such as audio, video, simulations, graphics, and interactive activities to enhance the learning experience. This role requires strong collaboration with an educational technologist, system support analysts, BPOs, and SMEs to create and maintain training resources and data, and ensure the successful delivery of training initiatives.

Essential Duties and responsibilities with % time:
Create and deliver financial training (70%):

  • Analyze learning needs and identify learning solutions that meet user, BPO, SME and institutional goals.
  • Design, develop, and deliver technical training and job aids that respond to learner needs.
  • Develop content outlines and storyboard courses based on direction and collaboration with BPOs and SMEs regarding training needs.
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods.
  • Develop exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, graphics, role plays, games, etc.).
  • Serve as a resource for finance BPOs and their staff on presentation techniques, adult learning techniques, and instructional methods ("train-the-trainer" assistance).

Maintain training data and records (20%):

  • Maintain final and working copies of course content, job aids, project documentation, and related materials in course folders. Schedule training sessions; maintain class registrations and other content in the learning management system; record completion of training and assessments.
  • Create and maintain training/practice data for learners to use in cooperation with system support analysts, BPOs, and SMEs.
  • Collect feedback from learners through course evaluations to share with management, BPOs, SMEs, and use the insights to improve and update future training sessions.

Other duties as assigned (10%)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS plus 2 years of experience; or a combination of education and/or experience to equal at least 6 years.
  • Experience with course development software (for example, Captivate, Articulate) and at least one Learning Management System.
  • Two years of experience designing both instructor-led and computer-based learning.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Working knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Visual design skills and the ability to storyboard.
  • Technical writing and editing expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Peoplesoft Financials, Peoplesoft Human Resources, or similar enterprise systems.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $68,000 - $75,000 annual; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
