JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for maintaining and developing the IT systems and networks. Position will oversee the infrastructure team and ensures the reliability, security, and performance of the IT infrastructure. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and taking a lead on assuring an optimal performance of our technology infrastructure that will result in a seamless IT operation. This position will develop, revise, recommend, and interpret policies and procedures for group to ensure all applicable laws and governmental guidelines are followed and that employees are treated in equitable manner. Coordinate various projects and programs for group confirming all tasks are completed by established deadlines and quality customer service is provided for staff and faculty. Assists campus departments in assessing technical requirements to meet the needs of their operation. Please note that this position does not support H1B sponsorship, and the incumbent must reside in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex or be willing to relocate.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in a technical field relating to data networking, cabling plant design, and project management, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or directly related experience may be substituted in lieu of the stated requirements.


  • Experience
    8 years of job-related experience in an IT infrastructure design environment and
    4 years In supervisory or managerial role

JOB DUTIES



  • Designs and implements short and long-term strategic plans to ensure front-end infrastructure and campus IT infrastructure capacity meet existing and future requirements.
  • Participates in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the executive team.
  • Consults and designs telecommunications distribution systems.
  • Maintains an obsolescent strategy for equipment replacements and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Manages vendor relationships and contract negotiations for infrastructure related technologies ensuring successful execution of IT budget.
  • Responsible for forecasting and submitting project budgets and managing expenditures.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration and project management.
  • Designs and implements short and long-term strategic plans to ensure front-end infrastructure and plant IT infrastructure capacity meet existing and future requirements.
  • Responsible for designing inside and outside plant pathways to include duct banks and fire rated pathways.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align IT infrastructure with business goals and objectives.
  • Manages and coordinates various complex projects and development programs for departments by ensuring all tasks are completed within established deadlines.
  • Designs IDF and MDF communication rooms to support network/telephony systems based on BICSI standards.
  • Ensures all low voltage contractor and in-house work performed on campus meet UTSW Division 27 standards.
  • Represents the group in planning meetings for new and ongoing projects, which include interacting with stakeholders and executive leaders.
  • Solicits bids pertaining to all aspects of low voltage infrastructure, review, and approve.
  • Works with architects during project design phase to ensure infrastructure requirements are included in IFC documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
