As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team, you would join other smart, talented, and dedicated engineers that pride themselves in analyzing the most difficult challenges for the launch-test range while developing and delivering solutions to meet the needs of the US Space Force and their customers.
This position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid telecommuting schedule. Tasks for this position must be performed largely on-site, but later assignments may be performed remotely.
Essential Functions
- Lead Sustaining Engineering department activities by executing guidance of the Sustaining Engineering Manager.
- Guide team members in understanding company vision and principles and work in concert with other engineering and department managers to ensure successful planning and execution of engineering activities
- Manage the Sustaining Engineering team across the Launch Test Range System (LTRS) enterprise, including engineering activities on Patrick Space Force Base, Cape Canaveral Space Force Base, and Vandenberg Space Force Base. This includes managing activities supporting both launch locations and remote instrumentation sites
- Ensure engineering projects are staffed with qualified personnel are available to meet project schedules responsibilities
- Support all aspects of systems engineering, hardware engineering, software engineering efforts to support sustainment, maintenance, and operation of the LTRS
- Ensure personnel are properly trained to execute their responsibilities and receive guidance and direction to ensure quality and timely service
- Oversee execution and improvements to Sustaining Engineering processes and procedures
- Follow LISC standards and management policies
- Utilize MS Project products and resource management data tools to Identify and resolve resource issues and support escalation and communication to management
- Provide leadership and guidance in engineering resource prioritization
- Identify and resolve technical issues and handle escalation and communication to management
- Provide coaching and mentoring to department resource managers unable to meet commitments, RGNext standards for technical quality, customer service, or contractual obligations
- Monitor workflow to ensure delivery of products on time in accordance with LISC requirements
- Prepare and provide progress and status reports, and briefings as required or requested, to inform department and program management of anticipated performance success, issues, improvement initiatives, as well as recognizing personnel through the RGNext Recognition Program
- Provide cost and schedule estimates for various engineering efforts and project proposals
- Establish, monitor, and adjust budgets and resource allocations
- Ensure all safety, security, and EHS training requirements are being followed
- Interface with LISC managers to ensure compliance with engineering support
- Maintain an understanding of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), Space Launch Deltas 45 and 30 and RGNext policies, procedures, and organizational responsibilities for requirements review, operations planning, scheduling, and mission execution
- Management of time accountability via timekeeping system with approval responsibilities and resolution of any timecard issues in accordance with RGNext processes
- Develop annual performance appraisals for each employee and the development of annual team and individual goals
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline
- Master's Degree in STEM or Engineering Management preferred
- Ten or more years of experience in the field of hardware and/or systems engineering to include at least eight years of leadership experience
- Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience in supporting the LTRS preferred
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
- Ability to travel occasionally between launch ranges (California, Florida), less than 10%
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
- Valid U.S. Driver's License

The salary range for this role is $105,000 to $160,000; however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
