Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Location(s): Naperville and Elmhurst, Illinois

Endeavor Health is currently seeking an exceptional neonatologist to join the Division of Neonatology. The successful candidate will have completed an accredited neonatology fellowship and be BE/BC in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

What you will need:

License: Illinois Medical License or License Pending
Certification: The successful candidate for this position will have completed an accredited neonatology fellowship and be board certified/eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

What you will do:

  • Provide in-house coverage in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Edward Hospital and daytime coverage with at-home night call coverage for the Special Care Nursery at Elmhurst Hospital, ensuring high-quality neonatal care and timely response to emergent situations.
  • Provide comprehensive care for critically ill neonates, including management of preterm and term infants with complex medical and surgical conditions.
  • Perform advanced neonatal procedures, including intubation, central line placement, chest tube insertion, and umbilical line placement.
  • Manage ventilatory support, including conventional ventilation, high-frequency ventilation, and non-invasive respiratory support.
  • Work closely with a team of neonatal nurse practitioners, pediatric hospitalists, respiratory therapists, nurses, and subspecialists to ensure coordinated and evidence-based care.
  • Provide delivery room stabilization and resuscitation, attending high-risk deliveries as needed.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to individualized care plans for NICU/SCN patients.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based protocol development, and clinical research to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatric subspecialists, and other providers to optimize neonatal care.
  • Participate in family-centered care by providing support, education, and guidance to parents and caregivers.

Edward Hospital is the largest Level III NICU in DuPage County. With over 400 admissions a year, this 35 private bed unit provides expertise across neonatal issues including: specialized small baby care, therapeutic hypothermia, pediatric surgery, and high risk neonatal developmental follow up. We have a dedicated and supportive multidisciplinary care model that includes team members from APNs, nursing, pharmacy, respiratory care, dietary, and social work.

Elmhurst Hospital is a Level II Special Care Nursing providing extended care for late preterm infants and transitional care for term infants in a community hospital setting.
