* Base Pay Range: $63,772.80 - $104,020.80 per year, based on experience


ABOUT THE JOB

The Senior Accountant prepares, reviews, and approves accounting transactions of a complex nature. This role will prepare and analyze financial reports, recommend and implement changes in accounting policies and procedures, and assist in the maintenance of the MU Health Care accounting system.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Maintain the general ledger in conformance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and governmental accounting standards.

Prepare and review journal entries, accounting transactions, and related

analyses, including variance analysis of budget versus actual results for

assigned areas, providing explanations of the causes for material variances.

Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts.

Prepare complex analysis of financial statements or supplemental reports for the Controller's Office.

Maintain accounting software structure, including daily budget and system

maintenance error resolution to ensure appropriate account codes are used on accounting entries.

Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate financial data and analysis.

Coordinate and provide documentation for internal and external audits.

Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Provide guidance and training to entry- and intermediate-level accounting staff.

Work closely with other departments to ensure financial data is accurate and aligns with hospital objectives.

May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department

documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Five (5) years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related area.

One (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the Missouri Board of Accountancy or

another state board.

Previous experience in a healthcare accounting role, with knowledge of hospital financial operations, billing, and reimbursement processes.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring

department.
