LOCATION: Warren, MA

Position Summary

The Sr. Planner is responsible for the coordination of product flow through the complete supply chain including outside services. This position directly manages dynamic ordering processing to convert sales demand into shop orders and purchase requisitions, while ensuring timely customer delivery. Additionally, the Sr. Planner is responsible for all "make" or "buy" decisions and outside service supplier selection and control.

The Sr. Planner establishes priorities and sets direction for the Kitter, Stock keeper and Planner.

Principal Activities


  • Run dynamic ordering processing daily converting sales demand into purchase requisitions and directing Planner on shop order release.
  • Directly manage all outside service suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Review all Engineering Change orders and take appropriate actions on those impacting purchasing, planning and scheduling functions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Quality to help troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting product flow and customer delivery.
  • Establish priorities and set direction for Kitter and Stock keeper to facilitate and optimize material flow to operations.
  • Directly manage the execution of the cycle count program.
  • Actively participate and report in daily Gemba and other production meetings.
  • Assist in data analysis and maintenance in ERP system for planning parameters.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to develop and manage a process for negotiating supply commitments to customer demands that ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Collects documentation as required on customer sales orders to complete.
  • Participate in the implementation and utilization of lean principles in the workplace.
  • Support Company policy, procedures, and safety policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities


  • CPSM (ISM), CPM (ISM), CPIM (APICS) or CSCP (APICS) certification(s) preferred.
  • Must understand constraint based management in a "Manufactured or Engineered to Order" environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of ERP systems (preferably IFS & SAP).
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.) applications.
  • Understanding work in progress to schedule the flow of supply to support production.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills (internal / external)
  • Problem solver that works collaboratively within the organization, efficiently and effectively resolves issues related to supply chain flow and meeting demand requirements
  • Ability to identify and prioritize multiple issues into clear and simple action plans.
  • Positive thinker / self-starter and Team Player.
  • Must be US citizen to meet US Defense requirements.

Education & Experience


  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Business or Accounting; preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Planning and materials management in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPSM (ISM), CPM (ISM), CPIM (APICS) or CSCP (APICS) certification(s) preferred.
