Description Vice President, Quality and Safety MaineHealth Medical Group MaineHealth Medical Group, Northern New England's largest medical group, is seeking an experienced and collaborative leader for its Vice President of Quality and Safety. The Vice President of Quality and Safety leads efforts to improve clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience and regulatory compliance for assigned entities across the MaineHealth Medical Group. In collaboration with the senior leadership team, this role will coordinate and lead efforts to ensure that the quality of clinical care meets evidence-based guidelines and best practices, improve systems of care delivery to eliminate preventable harm, measure and improve patient experience, ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, support internal and external performance measurement and reporting, handle patient complaints and grievances and foster a culture of continuous performance improvement. MaineHealth Medical Group unifies all 2,600+ MaineHealth providers at system hospitals and across more than 230 specialty and primary care practices in Maine and New Hampshire. Responsibilities: * MaineHealth Medical Group utilizes a patient outcome scorecard consisting of three elements - access, quality and patient experience - to drive physician/APP performance. The Vice President plays a critical role in helping to set the specialty specific quality goals while working closely with the quality and analytics team to implement and execute on the goals. * Leads efforts to improve clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience, and regulatory compliance across assigned location(s). * Coordinates and leads efforts to ensure that the quality of clinical care meets evidence-based professional guidelines and best practices. * Coordinates and leads efforts to improve systems of care delivery with the goal of minimizing errors and eliminating preventable harm. * Coordinates and leads efforts to measure and improve patient experience across the continuum of care. * Ensures compliance with regulatory standards for delivering clinical care and maintenance of accreditation with requisite agencies. * Implements and maintains efficient processes for internal and external performance reporting related to clinical quality, patient safety, and patient experience. * Implements and maintains efficient processes for handling patient complaints and grievances; collaborate with organizational leadership in addressing complaints and grievances as indicated. * Fosters a culture of continuous performance improvement across the organization. * Supports strategic planning and goal setting related to clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience, and regulatory compliance. * Mentors and supervises a diverse team of quality and safety professionals focused on improving clinical care and achieving system-wide goals and objectives; implements appropriate department structure to ensure staff engagement and productivity. * Chairs or co-chair key organizational committees and workgroups focused on improving quality and safety; serves on relevant Board and MaineHealth committees. * Supports the executive leadership team in achieving system-wide goals and objectives. * Coordinates activities with MaineHealth quality and safety leadership and with relevant centralized teams and services. * Serves as a resource re: performance improvement models and approaches-including education, consultation, and team facilitation. * Serves as a resource for organizational leadership re: department of health on-site investigations and licensing, regulatory and accreditation surveys; collaborates as needed in the development and implementation of plans of correction in response to licensing, regulatory and accreditation findings. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Education: Master's Degree in a healthcare related field required. RN or MD preferred. 2. License/Certifications: Certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred. 3. Experience: Ten years of experience working in a healthcare delivery organization required. Five years of experience in a primarily administrative or management role required. Experience in the areas of Performance Improvement, Patient Safety, Regulatory Compliance and Quality Management preferred.
