SP Industries, an ATS Company, is expanding our team and have immediate opening for a Buyer in our Vineland, NJ location. The main responsibilities include analyzing demand managing purchase orders maintaining ERP data and collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to resolve shortages and optimize inventory This role is key to supporting production schedules and improving overall supplier performance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform purchasing activities in support of Supply Chain vendor management revenue quality and ontime delivery OTD goals
- Manage the full purchase order cycleincluding creation documentation expediting and issue resolutionwhile maintaining complete ownership of all inventory processes. This includes regular cycle counting resolving discrepancies and ensuring accuracy to support production needs
- Analyze MRP and exception reports to determine purchasing actions based on supply and demand
- Apply best JustInTime JIT practices to align material deliveries with production and customer schedules responding to planning triggers and forecasts to ensure material availability while minimizing delays and excess inventory
- Manage the procurement of consumables and raw materials while controlling the departmental purchasing budget
- Maintain accurate ERP master data including purchasing attributes vendor details inventory controls and material classifications
- Obtain competitive quotes to support cost controls pricing fairness and positive revenuecash flow impact
- Develop and manage critical supplier relationships monitor and escalate performance issues related to cost OTD or quality
- Proactively resolve supplier issues and shortages to support longterm performance and prevent stockouts
- Review new customer purchase orders POs for lead time requirements and coordinate with production supervisors for efficient scheduling
Forecast annual material demands build strong vendor relationships and drive efforts to reduce lead times and enhance supplier performance
Collaborates with Service to maintain appropriate safety stock of highdemand items and proactively resolves material shortages capacity issues and schedule disruptions through effective communication and escalation
Support tactical purchasing operations by reviewing and converting purchase requisitions
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or 5-10 years related working experience.
- Must have a working knowledge of an ERP system.
- Prior experience with MS Office.
- Professional certification (or working towards), APICS or CIPS
- Experience working in a global organization or in manufacturing.
- Working understanding of MRP and ERP concepts, as related to purchasing, supply and demand, and material and vendor analysis
