Boys Town's Infrastructure Operations team is looking for a Sr. Building Management System Engineer. This is a unique role where you will be responsible for the building management system that controls Boys Town's building environments. They will design, install, manage and commission this system, which will be unique to each building and the needs of the people who use it. This role develops, implements, and oversees policies and procedures to ensure consistent provisioning, uptime, and regulatory compliance for the building management system.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Designs, engineers, and maintains the building management system.
  • Develops long-term vision, strategy, and roadmaps for building management systems across the organization in conjunction with company objectives.
  • Collaborates internally to develop scalable, maintainable, consistent, highly available building management system architectures that meet business objectives and set relevant service-level agreements; establishes optimization strategies to reduce downtime and costs while improving performance and availability.
  • Collaborates on third party integration, commissioning, system updates, and execution of third party Planned Service Agreements.
  • Designs and implements redundant systems and policies for disaster recovery and documentation to ensure effective protection and integrity of the building management systems' environment.
  • Develops and maintains procedures for change management, availability management, data security protection management, incident management, and procedure documentation within the building management system environment.
  • Develops and maintains testing process for current, new, and modified building management stations and software.
  • Maintains current knowledge of building management systems' related laws, trends, and issues, including current and emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Justifies expenditures of solutions through business cases, and ROI/TCO calculations.
  • Manages the installation and configuration of new and existing building management devices and corresponding software.
  • Establishes appropriate end-user access control levels for the building management systems' platform.
  • Communicates and enforces building management systems' policies; follows change control, incident response, and testing processes for modifications to building management stations and software.
  • Anticipates, mitigates, identifies, responds to, and resolves issues with building management systems, lighting control systems, heating and cooling systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems, ventilation systems, and building management networking.
  • Research and make recommendations on building management products, hardware, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and predicts trends for building management equipment performance, space allocation, and system growth to recommend enhancements.
  • Creates required reports in response to business user needs and provides guidance to junior members of the team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of building management design techniques, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of Tridium Niagara, Lutron Quantum Lighting, Halo Ventilation, Honeywell JACE, Honeywell Spyder, Honeywell EMON, Belimo Valves/Sensors, and Daikin Air Handler Units.
  • Excellent knowledge of BACnet/IP, BACnet MSTP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, 0-10V, 4-20ma, Resistance, SNMP, and LonWorks building management system protocols.
  • Knowledge of change management systems, applicable security practices and laws, and submitting audits and compliance reports to governing bodies, legal entities, and/or other external authorities.
  • Familiar with Building Automation System standards.
  • Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Proven analytical, strategic vision drawing on strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, team-oriented, collaborative environment and to meet deadlines and multi-task while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills, and excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language appropriate to both executive and managerial audiences.
  • Ability to conduct research into building management issues, standards, and products.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing building management infrastructure required.
  • Experience architecting enterprise building management systems with a broad spectrum of mechanical technologies. (Niagara, ServiceNow) required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with building management systems' platform (Niagara) required.
  • Certification in Niagara required.
  • On-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support required.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to complete travel requirements of the job required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
  • Pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certifications in Building Automation Systems preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position requires moderate physical activity including pulling and running cable. Handling of average weight objects 20 pounds and up to 50 pounds on occasion, standing, walking, kneeling, or at a keyboard, workstation, or desk. Requires agility to work in crawl spaces and on ladders. Work is typically in a normal office administrative or computer environment involving some exposure to physical risks, but will also spend time working in small, confined spaces or at heights of ten feet or greater with exposure to dust, noise, electrical systems, and excessively hot or cold temperatures.
