Product Analyst - Japan Market Launch

This is a full-time contract role (up to 40 hours per week) from May 2025 to March 2026.

Must be fluent in Japanese and support Pacific Time Zone

Overview:

We are looking for a Product Analyst to collaborate with our International Product team on localizing and launching our customers product in in Japan. This role combines localization project management and product analysis to ensure our customer is culturally relevant, linguistically accurate, and optimized for the Japanese market. The Product Analyst will adapt our product, content, and operations to meet the unique needs of Japanese audiences by collaborating with cross-functional teams. The Product Analyst will work closely with the customers International Product Team and a Japanese Localization Quality Assurance (LQA) Specialist to execute key tasks for a successful market launch.

Key Responsibilities

Localization & Quality Assurance



  • Support the end-to-end localization process in partnership with the International Product Team, ensuring all Japanese market requirements are met.
  • Review and approve translations from our vendor, ensuring accurate localization with appropriate cultural context and nuance, and considering UX/UI adaptation beyond translation.
  • Research and address additional localization needs for a successful product launch.
  • Provide QA and localization support to our vendor, testing newly localized features following test cases and engineering instructions.
  • Create and maintain Japanese localization style guides and glossaries aligned with our brand.


Market Intelligence & Analysis



  • Perform competitive analysis of similar products in the Japanese HR and job search market.
  • Evaluate and validate Japanese market data, including salary information, job titles, and taxonomies.
  • Support SEO campaign development tailored to the Japanese market, including natural, market-appropriate translations for marketing and SEO content.
  • Use analytical tools (e.g., Amplitude) to monitor post-launch performance and recommend optimizations. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Leverage Japanese market expertise to provide feedback and recommendations to product, engineering, and design teams.
  • Support project timelines, budgets, and resources for the Japanese market launch.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to improve product performance.


This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in product analysis, localization, and market research, with a deep understanding of Japanese consumer behavior and digital experiences. Required Qualifications:



  • Native Japanese speaker with experience living in Japan
  • Based on the U.S. West Coast or able to accommodate meetings in Pacific Time Zone
  • Professional written and verbal communication in US English and Japanese
  • Ability to create high-quality Japanese content and edit/proofread translations
  • Experience leveraging Japanese market expertise to support cross-functional teams
  • Experience translating marketing content from English to Japanese
  • Experience in Quality Assurance and Testing
  • Proficient with CAT tools (Smartling preferred)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Jira, Slack, Amplitude
  • Passionate about web and mobile technology
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
