The Position

The Workforce Education Department at Ocean County College is a trusted provider of workforce training programs designed to enhance safety, compliance, and professional development across industries. We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Driver's Education Instructor to deliver in-person training and ensure students gain a comprehensive understanding of driver's education curriculum.

The Driver's Education Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students in a classroom setting. This role ensures that students develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to become safe and responsible drivers. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about road safety and education, looking to make a meaningful impact on future drivers.

Classification: Workforce & Professional Education Instructor

Instructional Duration: Semester Based

Rate: $575/CEU (Continuing Education Units)
*Pay per class is dependent on the number of assigned Continuing Education Units (1 CEU is equivalent to 10 hours of work)


What You Will Do

  1. Deliver training in compliance with New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Program standards.
  2. Teach driver's education curriculum, including traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and vehicle operation.
  3. Foster a positive and engaging learning environment to encourage participation and understanding.
  4. Evaluate student comprehension and participation through assessments, discussions, and interactive activities.
  5. Maintain compliance with state regulations and Workforce Education program standards.
  6. Ensure a positive and engaging learning environment that supports student success.
  7. Update and enhance instructional materials based on updates or changes in industry standards.
  8. Communicate effectively with students and administration regarding program expectations and progress.
  9. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, evaluations, and certifications.
  10. Serve as a resource for students, addressing questions related to MVC regulations and driving safety practices.

The Successful Candidate Must Have

  1. Valid driver's education instructor certification (if required by state law).
  2. Strong knowledge of traffic laws, road safety, and defensive driving techniques.
  3. Excellent communication and instructional skills.
  4. Patience and ability to work with students of varying skill levels.
  5. Clean driving record and background check.
  6. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
