The EVP-COO Fellow is a position in the Office of the EVP-COO for a student who will receive an undergraduate degree from UVA in Spring 2025 or a person who has recently received a UVA undergraduate degree.As a staff member in the EVP-COO office, the Fellow works on initiatives related to the EVP-COO's highest priorities and carrying out essential duties related to the activities of the EVP-COO's staff. The EVP-COO Fellow will conduct research, perform outreach and communications, and manage special projects as assigned by the EVPCOO's Chief of Staff, and other members of the EVP-COO's Office team. The EVP-COO Fellow reports to the Assistant Vice President and Chief of Staff to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. This position is for the duration of the 2025-26 academic year with a flexible start and end date. Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts research and provides analysis related to the execution of the EVPCOO's priorities and goals.
- Researches and analyzes issues in higher education for the EVP-COO's review and use.
- Identifies and supports opportunities for the EVP-COO to engage with the University community, with a particular focus on opportunities for student interaction.
- Researches, coordinates, and drafts briefing and background materials for the EVPCOO and Chief of Staff in advance of meetings and events.
- Conducts research related to the EVP-COO speaking events and drafts talking points, in support of the Executive Director for Strategic Communications.
- Prepares presentation materials for the EVP-COO and Chief of Staff.
- Researches and drafts letters and correspondence for the EVP-COO's Office; assists with tracking correspondence to ensure a coordinated and timely response.
- Collaborates with staff in the Office of the EVP-COO to coordinate and execute special projects.
- Serves as a liaison between the EVP-COO's Office and other University departments for specific projects and assignments.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills; proven ability to clearly articulate information in multiple forums to a broad array of stakeholders.
- Excellent operational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to interact with executive level administrators, government officials, faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and other stakeholders in a productive, positive, and professional manner.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to exercise discretion in prioritizing tasks, sharing information, and using independent judgment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to take initiative by thinking proactively about team needs.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of and passion for the University of Virginia, its culture, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to translate prior UVA experiences and knowledge in support of the institution's mission, strategic aims, and programs.
The anticipated hourly rate is $22-$25/hour. The position is located in Charlottesville, VA and is required to work in person, in a shared office space, on the grounds of the University of Virginia. This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. Education: A degree from UVA with recent demonstrated knowledge of the culture within the University of Virginia is required. Experience: At least one year of experience. Experience as a student will be considered. Licensure: None

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
