The Space Vehicles team is growing and comprises a cross-disciplinary group of industry veterans and young talent alike. The focus is on the development of satellite buses, Orbital Maneuvering Vehicles (OMVs), space tugs, and more. The team is a tight-knit group of collaboration-oriented professionals that welcome others looking to work on multi-faceted, complex problems as a team.

The Arvada, CO location is nestled near the foothills of the front range, just west of Denver. The office is a 10-minute drive from downtown Golden and Arvada and is an easy commute from most of the Denver Metro area. Colorado offers year-round outdoor activities and is a melting pot of cultures.

Our team inMoog Space and Defense Groupis looking for aSenior Quality Assurance Engineerto join our Space Vehicles team in Arvada, CO.This position has responsibility for the planning, implementation, and administration of cost-effective Quality Programs to assure that systems are in place which will meet or exceed contractual quality requirements and provide the required level of protection to Moog and its Customers. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, under general supervision, will have considerable latitude for decision making and action. In addition, inspection planning and engineering analysis is
focused on variation reduction, thereby improving productivity, in-process yield, and efficiency of assembly and test activities. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer must be self-motivated and have the ability to work on several assignments and programs concurrently with limited supervision. This role is on-site and supports 1st shift on 9/80 schedule with core working hours from 8am - 4pm.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and six years' experience in Quality Engineering, preferably in Aerospace.

  • Strong Root Cause Corrective Action and Continuous Improvement facilitation experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical presentation skills.

  • Understanding of AS9100D, AS9102, ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T), and ANSI Z540/ISO 17025 Calibration standards/practices.

  • Knowledge of Wire and Harnessing drawings, assembly, and inspection techniques in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency with computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, etc.).

As aSenior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will:

  • Quality Planning: Plan, develop, implement, and administer cost-effective and complex Quality Plans. These activities require the development of plans for receiving inspection, assembly & test inspection, first article inspection, production traceability, contamination control, configuration control, and other written plans for customer approval.

  • Program Support: Provide technical Quality assistance to assembly & test, suppliers, customers, and other Engineering disciplines in the resolution of assembly, test, and field related problems. Review and approval of assembly & test, QMS, and Engineering procedures and drawings. This support requires the application of a creative approach to complex problem solving and strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Contract Compliance: Assure compliance with contractual issues for complex programs relative to quality, including coordination of customer, government, regulatory agency audits, and flow-down of contract requirements to suppliers and appropriate Moog disciplines.

  • Process/Continuous Improvement: Facilitate process and product improvement initiativessuch as product improvement studies, process improvement studies, and development of new systems & procedures by utilizing Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.

  • Training: Train and educate functional groups in the areas of QMS requirements, program-specific contractual quality requirements,
    Gauge Variation, Designed Experiments, and RCCA methodology. Provide technical guidance and training to Quality Assurance technicians and/or Quality Engineers.

  • Failure Analysis & Corrective Action: Conduct complex failure analysis by utilizingorganizational, technical knowledge, analytical and communication skills. The end result is to find the root cause and implement closed loop corrective actions.

Arvada, CO $95,326.00-$131,778.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
