About the role:

As a Item Control Coordinator you will be the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) technical expert for the site Material Control and Accounting (MC&A) Item Control Program. Responsible for maintenance and continuous improvement of the Item Control related processes, computer programs, procedures and reports described in the CFFF Fundamental Nuclear Material Control Plan. Ensure the CFFF is operated in a safe and regulatory compliant manner through implementation of rigorous MC&A Safeguards and Item Control Programs

You will report to the Regulatory Affairs Manager and be located at Columbia, SC.. You will work a hybrid workplace persona requiring 2-3 days onsite.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Establish, maintain, and administer the Item Control Program (Chapter 6 of the CFFF Fundamental Nuclear Material Control Plan), following regulatory requirements



  • Prepare and maintain procedures directly related to the Item Control Coordinator function.



  • Approve MC&A Critical Procedures; and review applicable portions of the other procedures having item control actions



  • Approval of Configuration Control Forms for impacts to MC&A/Safeguards functions



  • Participate in the planning, scheduling, and conduct of routine physical inventories



  • Participate in the planning, scheduling, and conduct of investigations and special physical inventories to determine if a loss or diversion of nuclear material has occurred.



  • Coordinate supplemental internal audits and reviews of item control activities throughout the site to demonstrate compliance with regulatory and Westinghouse corporate requirements; to assure documentation of findings, and corrective actions and to assure transmittal of such documentation to the Plant Manager, the Management team within EH&S, the Safeguards Coordinator and other responsible site management



  • Perform Barcode replacement process activities (perform ChAMPS Safeguards overcheck transaction, Replicate Barcodes)



  • Order and maintain tamper seals inventory.



  • System administrator for computer software used in nuclear materials management activities, database applications, computing systems and programming required to ensure MC&A data quality.



  • Work with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and other regulatory agencies regarding compliance and licensing activities related to the CFFF MC&A program.



  • Attend industry conferences or workshops related to MC&A to ensure applicable programs stay current and benchmarking is conducted to obtain and implement best practices.



  • Influence pending/future MC&A regulations to influence the CFFF and other fuel cycle facilities.



  • Provide support as a regulatory communications assistant for the CFFF Emergency Operation Center for notifications required by regulation.





Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, computer science or other applicable technical discipline or other related field required



  • At least 4 years of business or manufacturing experience



  • Experience in with computer programming and special nuclear materials MC&A practices.



  • Work with team members, coworkers, and internal and external customers, to accomplish priorities, deadlines, and special nuclear material delivery and receipt requirements.



  • Project management skills



  • Demonstrated experience using Corrective Action Programs
