West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems within the Leonard C. Nelson School of Engineering seeks to hire a tenure-track Associate Professor in Computer Science for the academic year 2025-26. The department offers two-degree programs: BS degree in Computer Science (CS) and BS degree in Information Systems (IS). Both programs have an area of emphasis in Cybersecurity. This position is 9-month, tenure-track, full-time, and benefits-eligible.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Computer Science and Information Systems courses for baccalaureate programs. The successful candidate will also be expected to pursue scholarly activities and perform other service activities associated with a faculty position.

Date of Appointment: August 15, 2025

Location: Beckley, WV

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field is required by the time of appointment.
  • Ability to teach Discrete Mathematics, Computer Science 1 and 2 and some upper-level courses for CS program including Cybersecurity courses is preferred.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence, responsiveness to student needs, and good communication skills are essential.
  • To be considered at the Associate Professor rank, applicants must have a minimum of five years of higher education teaching experience.
