Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a STEM Instructional Services Coordinator Sr (Lab Coordinator). This position performs a fully proficient professional level of technical and analytical work in the science laboratories pertaining to its daily operations and its related functions. This position serves as a subject matter expert and provides program administration and consultation including planning, developing and implementing related functions, projects and activities in the instructional areas of physical science which include chemistry, physics, engineering and geology.

Essential Functions

20% - Performs project management including operational planning, development and administration of budget, problem-resolution and technical assistance for instructional programs, including, but not limited to laboratory settings.

20% - Oversees and provides leadership for the coordination, set-up, and maintenance for all laboratory needs and learning exercises and experiments including maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies as well as developing operating policies, practices and work standards for laboratory operations

20% - Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of staff; Participates in hiring, discipline and termination activities when necessary

15% - Provides training and guidance in area of expertise; oversees the maintenance of files, records, program materials and documentation

15% - Develops policies and procedures for instructional program, monitors program guidelines and ensures compliance with applicable policies, regulations, laws, maintenance/repair schedules of instructional program including, but not limited to, the safe and efficient operation of the lab and equipment

10% - Collaborates and consults with program faculty and staff on program design, effectiveness, quality and outcomes, recommends modifications and additions to program; other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development, a STEM field or directly related field and two (2) years of related full-time equivalent experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in area of assignment.

OR

Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development, a STEM field or directly related field and four (4) years of related full-time equivalent experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in area of assignment.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, engineering, astronomy, or geology

B. Experience maintaining multiple budgets in a professional setting

C. Two (2) years of experience working with physical science/engineering labs.

D. Experience managing collaborative projects with staff and faculty.

E. Experience with compliance regulations training

F. Experience in supervising laboratory staff including laboratory technicians and student workers

Special Working Conditions

Exposure to chemicals, fumes, particulates and organisms that may present health hazards if not handled according to safety protocols are possible.

May require lifting objects up to 50 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation.

May be required to work at multiple campus locations and work outdoors.

Evening and weekend hours may be required.
