SUPERVISING PHYSICIAN

CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) CLINICS

Number of Positions: 1

Starting Salary: $135,084 - $152,748

Under direction of the Syndemic Infectious Disease (SID) Bureau Medical Director, this position supervises clinicians providing medical care to patients at a STI clinic, provides direct patient care in an STI clinic, and performs related duties in the Bureau as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Directs the activities of nurse practitioners providing medical care to patients at CDPH STI clinics and assists with diagnosis and treatment plans as needed

* Schedules clinical staff to meet the service needs of the community

* Evaluates clinicians' performance through the use of chart reviews and other evaluation tools

* Provides direct patient care in the STI clinics, including physical examinations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment (estimated 30-40% of time)

* Develops and maintains processes for referring patients to other health agencies

* Collaborates with nursing, laboratory, and operations managers to ensure efficient and high-quality care

* Develops clinical protocols to ensure STI clinical care meets departmental and national standards

* Participates in quality assurance/quality improvement projects

* Coordinates training and medical education seminars for clinic staff

* Serves as the CDPH subject matter expert for STI diagnosis and care

* Serve as backup to TB Program Medical Director (estimated 10% of time)

Additional duties may be required for this position

Location: Multiple sites: Lakeview, Austin, & Roseland STI clinics

Days/Hours: Monday, Wednesday & Friday (8:00am - 4:00pm)

Tuesday and Thursday (9:00am - 5:00pm)

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Graduation from a school of medicine with a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or the Commission for Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), AND

* Completion of a residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), supplemented by two years of experience in the practice of public health medicine

Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications

* Applicants must possess a valid and unrestricted physician license awarded by any U.S. state at the time of application

* Applicants must possess a valid and unrestricted State of Illinois physician license and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate at the time of employment

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.
