Job Overview The Red Classic Transport Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of diesel- powered tractor-trailer combination Commercial Motor Vehicles to transport; deliver products or materials following the FMCSA regulations and Company policies. Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensuresafe and productive workday by promptly completing start of shift activities by reviewing work schedule; checking equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled and prepare for operations.
- Safely operate equipment following all motor vehicle laws without distraction and maintain a safe working environment by completing all assigned safety training activities and adhering to all safety policies and procedures, including conducting Department of Transportation (DOT) daily pre-trip and daily post-trip inspections of vehicle, if required, etc.
- Conduct a daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspection and in route safety inspection of trucks and various trailers to ensure safe operation of all equipment according to FMCSA regulations.
- Always operate the tractor-trailer safely and legally and in accordance with all applicable laws and Company policy.
- Checkand completein an accurate and legible fashion all the required paperwork associated with freight, obtaining required signatures and documentation verifying cargo pick-up and delivery. Utilizing Samsara device to upload bill of lading and proof of delivery for each load.
- Attendance expectations is that drivers depart the facility by their published start time.
- Usemaps, GPS, written or verbal information to effectively trip plan and ensure efficient, legal and on time pickup and delivery.Accurately and legibly, checkand complete all the required paperwork associated with freight, obtain required signatures and documentation verifying cargo pick-up and delivery.
- Usean electronic log to ensure a record of daily service hours following FMCSA, state, and company requirements.
- Loadand securecargo against movement and damage within trailer while maintaining required seal control; frequently backing trailers up to the dock doors with other trailers on either side of the dock. Raise and lower landing gear, open and close cargo doors. Climb on and off landing gear.
- Couples and uncouples truck from various trailers, slide tandems as needed; Secureall equipment and machinery, completeall required paperwork, and refueltruck with diesel fuel and DEF.
- Performother duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to traverse steps, platforms, protrusions, narrow accesses, concrete, steel, wood floors, uneven surfaces, to safely enter and exit tractors and trailers with or without accommodations.
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, stacking, and/or pulling up to 25 lb.
- Occasional lifting, pulling, jerking, up to 100lbs.
- Requires frequent walking, bending, climbing in and out of tractors and trailers, kneeling, and squatting.
- Ability to read and comprehend information related to the trip and be able to plan effectively for the trip.
- Be able to lower and raise landing gear and open and close cargo doors.
- Climbing on and off the vehicle in a safe manner.
