Anesthesia Technician

Surgical Services I Lexington

Full-Time, First Shift (5x8's 0900-1730)

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

Description:

• Assesses patient specific needs preoperatively i.e., resistant organisms, latex allergy, age specific and communicates with the surgical services team members regarding relevant patient and procedure data.
• Communication and Teamwork.
• Meets with anesthesiologists to identify needs of the department.
• Meets with vendors to identify equipment /supplies needed for the department.
• Assists in capital budget process. * Communicates with the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) regarding necessary changes, supplies/instrumentation needs.
• Communicates conflicts in the OR schedule to the Chief Anesthesiologist/designee.
• Coordinates special procedures with SPD. * Instructs staff regarding proper usage of and handling of anesthesia equipment.
• Assists with staff Scheduling/coordinates coverage.
• Demonstration of leadership.
• Customer relations and healing environment.
• Ensures positive customer relations through caring behaviors.
• Uses sensitivity in managing difficult or emotional situations.
• Previous experience as an Anesthesia Technician, preferred but not required.

Requirements:

• Basic Life Support
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
