In the role of Urban Designer 2, we'll count on you to:


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Lead and support a variety small to large-scale civic projects across the Northwest and beyond
  • Contribute to the success of large scale multi-modal projects enhancing the human experience around various modes of transit and transportation
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to develop vibrant, innovative, and sustainable urban design solutions
  • Ensure the highest standards of communication, quality and creativity in all planning and design efforts
  • Manage tasks and budgets of multi-discipline teams focused on the civic realm
  • Contribute to studio leadership in the area of urban design
  • Coordinate with other urban design, planning, and landscape architecture leaders in the company to identify and implement growth initiatives
  • Engage in business development, including marketing proposals, project interviews, etc.
  • Mentor junior staff and contributing towards best practice of urban design across within the organization
  • Travel and intermittent client co-location may be required
  • Perform other duties as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and communication skills related to stakeholder processes and community building
  • Exceptional skills in organization, graphic design, and written/verbal communication
  • Experience across both public or private sectors
  • Strong preference given to candidates with in-depth experience in large-scale public place making, transportation, and transit systems
  • Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCad, 3D modeling softwares (Sketchup/Rhino), Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, ESRI platforms, and others as needed
  • Proficient in utilizing a range of modeling software programs to enhance project dialogue
  • Exceptional communication and demonstrated skill in the execution and management of stakeholder and technically rich projects
  • Balanced written and graphic abilities
  • General understanding of Northwest development regulations, built environment planning, zoning, and real estate
  • Ability to multi-task amongst diverse projects and project teams, while managing project priorities
  • Adept at leading or participating in collaborative efforts with multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Ability to scope Urban Design elements of a project and manage delivery schedules
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Urban Design, Planning, or closely related field

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning or closely related field
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Requires excellent graphics skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • May require the ability to travel
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
